Sarah Webster
This is Sarah's second year serving on the SCMS PTSA Board. Originally from Southern California, she obtained her Master's degree in Biology from UC Santa Barbara. #igauchoback

Sarah is passionate about championing and empowering youth and helping each child reach their full potential. She believes that giving back offers a unique opportunity to connect with the community and see how small actions can collectively create significant positive change.

She is the proud parent of a SCMS 7th grader. In her spare time she enjoys traveling with her family, gardening, DIY projects, reading, and experimenting in the kitchen.

Marissa Gillis
Marissa is originally from South Carolina and holds a Master's degree in Education with a focus in Student Affairs.
​
Her greatest passions are cooking and spending quality time with her family. She is an active volunteer and loves staying involved in her children's activities.
​
As a proud parent of a 6th grader at SCMS, she finds joy in giving back to the community and helping make a positive impact in the lives of children around her. Supporting and uplifting others, especially youth, is at the heart of everything she does.

VICE PRESIDENT OF COMMUNICATIONS
Kendra Light
Kendra is a firm believer that laughter is the best medicine. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, whether relaxing at home or exploring something fun. ​
​
She currently works in alumni relations at VCU and is pursuing her Ed.D. in Educational Leadership for K-12.
​
Passionate about helping youth reach their full potential, she is excited to get more involved with Salem Church Middle School!

Treasurer
Shirley Lesser
Shirley is a financial services professional with over 25 years of experience, including more than a decade in risk management. Her work emphasizes clarity, accountability and practical solutions - skills she applies just as seamlessly in her advocacy and volunteer efforts.
​
She is a founding member of the Children's Hospital Family Advisory Network at VCU, where she has worked to amplify family voices in pediatric care and champion patient-centered policies. Her passion for the full inclusion of children with disabilities stems from her own experiences as a parent - her son Dylan has faced significant medical challengers, and Shirley has been a steadfast advocate for ensuing that all children, regardless of ability, have access to support and opportunity.

For the past four years, Shirley has also served on the board of GLSEN RVA, collaborating with educators and families to make local schools safer and more inclusive for LGBTQ+ youth.
Whether managing budgets or building coalitions, Shirley approaches each role with car, intention and deep understanding of what inclusion truly means.

SECRETARY
LaToya Lindsey
LaToya has served on the Seahawk PTSA Board as the Secretary since the 2023-2024 academic year. LaToya obtained her Ph.D. in Education from Northcentral University.
​
LaToya is the proud mother of three girls. Reagan is in the eighth grade, Harper is in the second grade and Kennedy is in Kindergarten.
​
LaToya enjoys attending and volunteering in church, attending virtual book club meetings with her college friends, watching movies with her husband of 15 years, and she loves the thought of having a beautiful outdoor garden, even though it's only a thought and she sticks with indoor plants.
​
Working in higher education for 20 years now, LaToya has a passion for helping students further their education. She is now privileged to work with educators who are looking for advancement and it is so fulfilling to know that students can continue learning at any phase in their lives.
